FROM THE PRESIDENT/CEO

Our 10th grade students returned from Israel on December 31st after an amazing six-week experience. This was the 4th year of the program we call HIP, which stands for Hebrew Immersion Program.

This year, as in previous years, the HIP experience had an incredibly powerful impact on the participants. I must admit that I find myself feeling even more passionate about HIP after hearing about my own son's experiences on the program this year.

During the program our students participated in an intensive Hebrew ulpan program. This course builds on their years of Hebrew studies, synthesizing their skills and taking them to levels of Hebrew competency in the 10th grade not seen before the creation of this program. Our students also developed lasting relationships with Israeli peers who live on the Midrashah where the students stayed. Many of our students commented that the new friends they made in Israel were a key to their forming an attachment to Israel. HIP participants were also spiritually uplifted by their visiting the sacred sites in the Holy Land.

The HIP experience is educational, it fosters a connection with Israel and its people and it strengthens Jewish identity. It is a life changing experience that our school is blessed to be able to provide to our children.

PTO

Martin Luther King Denver "Marade"
Wear your Herzl RMHA shirt and come with PTO. Show your solidarity and march in the Martin Luther King Parade. The Denver "Marade" (march + parade) is one of the largest in the United States complete with marching bands and a rally at the capitol. Let's meet at 11:45 a.m. on Mon. Jan. 18, at the corner of Clarkson and Colfax to march the last five or so blocks to the Capitol. Let your kids see why they are out of school! Contact Chandra Rosenthal or Ilana Merenstein.

Volunteer of the Week
High Five to Jodi Asarch, Tracy Douglas and Lynn Olesky!!  Thanks to you, our kids have a cornucopia of new, exciting and fun things to try.

Make friends and get to know your school!
PTO approved new by-laws on Thursday. This is interesting because it means that we will have a staggered President-Vice President system, meaning we need someone like you to help next fall.  Please talk to Chandra or Lisa right away if you are interested!
